I would consider making the head a bit larger still, even though you just made it smaller. As long as you are careful when painting the textures, it should be fine. Plus, with the fur paint, it won't matter as much honestly that the Uvs are larger in one region than another. If you pack the head on the right side where all the little bits are now, you might have room to do this. Not that there is a big problem with the way it is now, i just hate to see empty space on a layout.
